Bistro Molines
Algerian born Robert Molines, is widely regarded as one of the great Hunter Valley chefs with over 35 years experience. Robert grew up in Beausoliel, in the south of France, and his childhood exposed him to a mix of French, Italian and Mediterranean cultures. He completed his culinary education at the Catering Institute of Menton and served his apprenticeship at some of the top hotels of Monte Carlo, Nice and Cannes, before arriving in Australia in 1968.
He gained experience in many Sydney restaurants before moving to the Hunter Valley with his wife Sally in 1973.
Now, Robert and Sally are proud propietors of Bistro Molines at Tallavera Grove. This French Bistro is set in the gorgeous surrounds of the picturesque Tallavera Grove property in Mount View. Robert has returned to his roots and offers a large, everchanging menu of Provincial French cuisine inspired by the freshest local produce. The open set dining room is lovingly decorated by Sally with fresh flowers, colourful fruit and antique pictures and ornaments. However, the place to dine is on the verandah over looking the Mount View valley and vineyards or in the wisteria covered courtyard- heaven on earth!
In September 2009, Bistro Molines was awarded a Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Chefs Hat with rave reviews from editor Simon Thompson......
"I like what his humilty stands for: a rustic, yet sophisticated, honesty and an unpretentious, relaxed pace with a sprinkle of enchantment.......this culinary craftsmen is recrowned".
